1. Who we are

Chikara (“we”, “us”) operates chikara.nyc and the restaurant at 150 West 70th Street, New York, NY 10023. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect when you use the site, book a table, or message us — including through Google AI-assisted messaging.

2. What we collect

Depending on how you reach us, we may collect:

  • Name, email address, phone number and message content from forms or email.
  • Reservation details processed by Resy (party size, date, time, notes, and any card details Resy collects for no-show protection).
  • Technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages viewed, through ordinary server logs and, where connected, Microsoft Clarity or similar analytics.
  • Content of chats or messages handled by Google AI-assisted messaging tools.

3. How we use it

We use this information to answer enquiries, run reservations, improve the site, meet legal duties, and operate AI-assisted replies where enabled. We do not sell your personal information.

4. AI-assisted messaging

If you message us through a Google AI-assisted channel, Google may process your message to generate a reply. Those replies can be wrong. Do not send payment card numbers, government IDs or other sensitive data through chat. Prefer Resy or email for booking changes and medical or allergy details.

5. Third parties

We share data only as needed with:

  • Resy — reservations and related guest communications.
  • Google — Search Console, AI messaging, and related Google services you choose to use with us.
  • Email and form providers — if a form endpoint is configured, submissions go there.
  • Analytics providers such as Microsoft Clarity, when connected in our console.

Each provider handles data under its own policy.

6. Retention

We keep messages and reservation records only as long as needed for the restaurant, accounting and legal requirements, then delete or anonymise them.

7. Your choices

You may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where the law allows. Email [email protected]. You can also manage cookies and tracking in your browser.

8. Children

The site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their personal information online.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top of the page will change when we do.
